RRB NTPC 2026: One of India's Largest Recruitments

RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories), conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards, is among the biggest government recruitments every year. The 2026 cycle covers Graduate level (8,868 vacancies) and Undergraduate level (11,558 vacancies) across posts like Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Junior Clerk, Commercial Clerk, and Accounts Clerk.

RRB NTPC 2026 Exam Pattern

Selection is through CBT-1 → CBT-2 → Skill Test/Typing (for some posts) → Document Verification & Medical.

CBT-1 (100 questions, 90 minutes)

There is negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer. Normalisation is applied across shifts.

Syllabus Highlights

• Mathematics: Number system, ratio, percentage, mensuration, time & work, time & distance, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, geometry, algebra.
• Reasoning: Analogies, series, coding-decoding, syllogism, Venn diagrams, puzzles, statement-conclusion.
• General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science, and static GK.

RRB NTPC Salary

Salary varies by post and level (Pay Levels 2–6):

• Level 2 posts (e.g., Accounts Clerk): ~₹19,900 basic.
• Level 5 posts (e.g., Senior Clerk, Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk): ~₹29,200 basic.
• Level 6 posts (Station Master, Goods Train Manager): ~₹35,400 basic.

With DA, HRA, and transport allowance, in-hand salaries range from ₹28,000 to ₹47,000+ per month, plus railway travel passes and job security.

Preparation Strategy

1. Strengthen General Awareness — it carries the most marks (40–50). Study static GK plus 6 months of current affairs.
2. Practise Maths and Reasoning daily — speed and accuracy decide your CBT score.
3. Solve previous year papers to understand the difficulty and question trends.
4. Attempt shift-wise mock tests — normalisation means consistency matters.
5. Revise regularly using short notes for formulas and GK facts.
